     "Azhi ther" in all its grandeur  in thiruvarur.  Azhi ther is the biggest temple chariot in Asia. Thiruvarur is not just other historic town from cauvery delta also famous for chariot.Thousands of devotees around the districts converged at Thiruvarur to celebrate the chariot festival.The devotees is pulling it using the huge ropes.The idol is beautifully decorated and  brought out from the temple to westen entrance by the  sivanadiyar. Because of the pandemic situation the height of the car was reduced from 96 feet  to 53 feet.The crowd  expressed their devotion by chanting "Arora thiyagesa". They are using hydraulic brakes to stop the chariot. The chariot weighs 350 tonnes at height of 96 feet.. People were not following the safety measures like wearing mask and keep social distancing."azhi ther" procession went around  Four main mada "veedhis" around thiruvarur temple. Before carona many people came and visited the chariot but pandemic situation visitors were reduced.Five cars including Vinayagar ,Subramaniyar, Ambal,Chandhekehwarar would be pulled on the day. The event is attended by the lakhs people from all over the tamilnadu and completed with grandeur.
